Rugged Computing Solutions for Harsh Environments
CENAVA builds rugged tablets, laptops, panel PCs and handhelds for work that happens outdoors, on the line, or inside a classified zone. Consumer machines die there. Ours ship there.
The range runs from 8-inch Android units to a 13.3-inch Windows tablet with an i7-1255U. Sealing goes to IP68. Every rugged SKU passes a Drop Test under MIL-STD-810H, Method 516.8, Procedure IV. Sunlight-readable panels, glove touch, 4G or 5G — picked per project, never bundled by default.
We don't push one box at every problem. Send us the application, and we come back with a platform and a price.
Rugged Computing Platforms
Rugged Tablets
Most of our shipments are tablets. The 10.1-inch class carries the workload — A10ST-EX for ATEX sites, W10Y (i7-10510Y, IP68) for Windows field software, A10R with RK3568 for Android builds. An 8-inch unit fits a truck-cab bracket; the 10.95-inch A109TB runs Android 14 on an MT6789V. Glove and wet-hand touch come standard on the IP68 models.
Need a scanner in the back? We fit 1D/2D engines, NFC or UHF RFID at the factory, so the whole assembly ships as one tested unit.
Rugged Laptops
Some jobs need a real keyboard. Diagnostic suites, commissioning tools, legacy drivers — that kind of work. Our 13.3-inch W30U pairs an i7-1255U with IP65 sealing, plus RJ45 and serial ports that talk to a PLC without adapters. The W30U Pro steps up to an Ultra7-155U when the software wants more cores. Field engineers dock them in vehicles; the battery comes out in seconds when a shift runs long.
Industrial Panel PCs
Fixed stations are a different problem. A panel PC stays bolted into a control cabinet for years, so we build them fanless — no vents, no dust path, nothing to clog. The CXE80C runs an N2930 for basic HMI; larger panels take N5100-class boards with RS-485 and GPIO on the header. VESA mount or panel cutout — on OEM orders we cut the bezel to the machine builder's drawing.
Rugged Handheld Terminals
One hand holds the railing, the other holds the device. That is the handheld's job. The W65G-EX fits a jacket pocket and still carries EX marking for hazardous rounds. Its scan engine reads 1D/2D codes; NFC handles asset tags at tap distance. Smaller than our 8-inch tablets. Tougher than any phone your crew brought from home.
Solutions by Industry
Oil, Gas & Hazardous Areas
Zone 1 is where paperwork gets serious. Our EX line carries ATEX II 2GD marking — Ex ib IIC T5 Gb on the A10ST-EX, Ex ib IIC T4 Gb on the 8-inch A80ST-5G EX. That T4 ceiling keeps surfaces under 135°C, safe near IIC gases, hydrogen included. Inspectors photograph valves, pull asset histories and log findings on the spot instead of walking back to a safe-area PC.
Ask us for the certificate copy with your inquiry. We send the documentation set with the quotation — the table below shows what ships per route.
Logistics & Transport
A forklift is a hostile desk. Vibration all day, gloves all year. Drivers on 10.1-inch vehicle-docked tablets scan pallets without leaving the cab; we wire the dock to the truck's 12/24 V line so the unit charges on the move. UHF RFID reads pallet tags at 3-5 m. When the truck rolls, 4G keeps the proof-of-delivery app synced — photos and signatures upload before the driver reaches the gate.
Industrial Automation & Manufacturing
MES rollouts fail at the last meter — the terminal on the machine. We put fanless panel PCs on the line and IP65 tablets in the supervisor's hand, both talking to the same PLC over RS-485 or Ethernet. CAN and GPIO headers handle the odd sensor a project throws at us. Changeovers stay quick because our mounts repeat across the range.
Construction & Site Work
Paper drawings die on site. A 10.1-inch tablet with a 1000 nit panel stays readable at noon; BIM viewers and inspection apps run on Android or Windows, whichever the project office standardized on. Concrete dust kills vents — our sealed designs have none. Drop it from scaffold height? Method 516.8 already simulated that: 26 drops from 1.22 m onto plywood over concrete.
Field Survey & GIS
Centimeters, not meters. Our RTK-equipped tablets fix to 2 cm + 1 ppm with a correction feed — survey-grade work, not phone-grade guessing. Multi-constellation GNSS keeps the fix under canopy where single-constellation receivers give up. Crews map utilities, stake out foundations and log assets with the receiver on a pole mount.
Public Safety & Emergency Response
A patrol car is an office at 110 km/h. Our vehicle docks hold the tablet through braking and corners, and TPM 2.0 plus a fingerprint reader keeps case data locked to the officer. EMS crews type reports on glove-capable screens at −30°C. Incident commanders pull the same map the field units see — 4G or 5G keeps everyone on one picture.
Configurable Industrial Features
Each CENAVA platform family takes a different set of hardware and communication options. We configure them per project:
- Sealing: IP65, IP67 or IP68 by model; Drop Test per MIL-STD-810H, Method 516.8, Procedure IV
- Data capture: 1D/2D scan engines, NFC, UHF RFID, fingerprint modules
- Positioning: multi-constellation GNSS; optional RTK at 1 cm + 1 ppm
- Industrial I/O: RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485, RJ45, CAN, GPIO, POGO pins
- Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G or 5G
- Power: removable batteries across the range; a 20000 mAh pack on the A109ST-EX
- Mounting: vehicle docks, desktop cradles, VESA arms
Not every feature is available on every model.
Give us the operating system, the environment, the interfaces, the certifications and the quantity — we fix the final configuration against that list.
ATEX & IECEx-Certified Options
An IP68 seal keeps water out. It does nothing against a methane pocket. Hazardous-area work needs certified equipment, and the certificate — not the datasheet — decides where a device may go.
Start from the zone. Zone 1 gas work wants Ex ib IIC with the right T-class; dust areas want IIIC Db marking. Our A10ST-EX ships as Ex ib IIC T5 Gb, surfaces held to 100°C. The A80ST-5G EX is Ex ib IIC T4 Gb, 135°C. Modify nothing — swap a battery pack outside the approved configuration and the certificate stops covering the unit.
Why Choose CENAVA as Your Rugged Computing Partner?
Selection by application. We quote against your workflow, not a spec sheet. A warehouse project gets scan-range and dock questions first; an EX project starts with the zone. Many inquiries change model after the first call — usually downward, to a cheaper unit that actually fits.
Configuration depth. More than 40 rugged SKUs across four form factors, from N5100 entry units to an Ultra7-155U flagship. Screen sizes run 8, 10.1, 10.95 and 13.3 inches.
OEM/ODM. Branding, firmware images, BIOS settings, packaging — production-level customization at qualified volumes, MOQ from 1 unit per run. EX products are the exception: hardware stays exactly as certified.
Both operating systems. Windows for the legacy driver, Android for the cloud app. We preload your image and lock the build for the life of the order.
Spares and lifecycle. Batteries, docks and chargers stay available for more than 15 years after a model retires — and we state the end-of-life date before you buy, not after.
How to Request a Product Recommendation
Five things get you an accurate quote: the job, the OS, the screen size, the environment, the quantity. We reply with a model and a price — normally within one working day.
Samples ship for evaluation; your team tests the unit in the real environment before volume. For EX, RTK or custom-I/O projects, send the technical requirement with the first email — it saves two rounds of back-and-forth. A 20000 mAh EX tablet or a 13.3-inch i7 panel — whatever the project needs, the conversation starts with the application.
