3. Can A18ST-EX be used in ATEX Zone 1 gas areas?

Yes — the ATEX gas configuration is Category 2G with EPL Gb, which is exactly the Zone 1 (and Zone 2) rating. The certificate number and ambient range come with our quotation.

4. Can A18ST-EX be used in Zone 21 combustible-dust areas?

Yes — order the Ex ib IIIC T95°C Db configuration; EPL Db is the Zone 21 (and Zone 22) rating for conductive dust.

5. Is A18ST-EX suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 20?

No Zone 0 or Zone 20 claim should be made from Gb and Db markings. Those areas normally require a higher Equipment Protection Level. 

6. Is IP68 the same as ATEX or explosion-proof certification?

No. IP68 addresses dust and water ingress under defined conditions. ATEX and Ex markings address ignition risk in explosive atmospheres. An ordinary IP68 tablet is not automatically suitable for a hazardous area.

7. Which interfaces and wireless functions are available?

You get Type-C, USB-A, a 3.5mm jack, a 12-pin POGO dock connector, Micro-SIM and a TF slot (up to 256GB), plus dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and full-band 4G LTE. Bluetooth is 5.2 on current production units.
