1. What is the CENAVA W80Y Debian tablet PC designed for?
It's an 8-inch x86 tablet for field work where you need a real Linux box and a wired network port — machine commissioning, PLC cabinets, vehicle builds. Two things separate it from an Android rugged tablet: the RJ45 is on the board, not a dongle you lose, and Debian 12 gives you a normal apt workflow instead of a locked-down Android build. 8GB RAM, Intel Core i5-10210Y and a 128GB M.2 SSD.
2. Which Debian version is available on W80Y?
Ships with Debian 12 (Bookworm). We pin the kernel, apt sources and image checksum at build time and hand them over with the units.
3. What should buyers searching for “tablet Debian” check first?
List every package and peripheral your application touches — scanner SDK, LTE modem, VPN or security agent — before you order. A scanner engine that ships as a Windows .dll won't load on Linux, and we've seen teams find that out after the units landed.
4. Is Debian the standard operating system for this W80Y configuration?
This is a Debian configuration, not a Windows unit with Linux added later. The same W80Y chassis ships with Windows 11 as the standard build; the Debian image is a separate line item. Say so at quotation stage if you need a specific image — reflashing after shipment means the units come back.
5. What processor does the W80Y Debian Linux tablet use?
It uses the Intel Core i5-10210Y with 4 cores, 8 threads, a 1.00GHz base frequency and up to 4.00GHz turbo. Intel specifies 6MB cache and a 7W TDP.
6. Is the Intel Core i5-10210Y still a current processor?
No. Intel marks it discontinued. W80Y should be selected for a defined project with documented supply rather than described as a new-generation or indefinite-lifecycle platform.
7. How much memory and storage are included?
8GB RAM and a 128GB M.2 SSD. The M.2 is the boot drive; the microSD slot (up to 256GB) is for data, not for the OS — don't plan on running the system from an SD card.
8. Does W80Y have native Gigabit Ethernet?
Yes — 100/1000Mbps on a native RJ45, no USB adapter, and it comes up under Debian 12 without extra drivers. It matters most when you're pushing firmware over a wired link or commissioning a machine and can't afford a dongle going missing.
9. Does this Debian tablet have an external RS232 port?
No RS232 on this one. The I/O set is Gigabit RJ45, Micro HDMI,Type-C USB 3.0, USB-A 3.0, 3.5mm, microSD, Micro SIM, DC 12V and a 12-pin POGO.
10. Does the touchscreen work with gloves?
The 10-point G+G panel is tuned for medical rubber gloves, so it works with the gloves your technicians actually wear. Wet-hand and rain modes are factory tuning options, not a software switch
you can flip later — order it up front if the unit will see rain or washdown. Send us a sample glove if yours is unusual.
11. Is the 700 cd/m² display sunlight readable?
700 cd/m², which holds up in shade and on overcast days. In direct midday sun you'll still want a dark UI theme and a matte screen protector — brightness alone doesn't beat glare.
12. What does the IP68 rating cover?
IP68, tested to 1.5m for 30 minutes with all port covers seated . Two things buyers miss: the rating assumes every port cover is seated, and it does not cover high-pressure washdown or salt
water. If the units get hosed down daily, tell us and we'll spec the sealing for it.
13. Is the battery removable?
No — the 7.6V 5550mAh pack is built in and is not a user-swappable part, so this isn't the tablet for a 24/7 operation running on battery swaps. The 10000mAh option takes thickness from 24.5mm to about 38.3mm, which you'll feel in a holster. Plan on a vehicle dock or a charging dock instead.
14. Are barcode, NFC and UHF RFID available under Debian?
The 2D scanner, NFC, UHF RFID, fingerprint and LF modules are factory-fit options, and Debian support is per-module — a module that works on our Windows build doesn't automatically behave the same here.
15. Should I buy the Debian version or the Windows version of W80Y?
A. Same chassis, same I/O, different OS line. Take Debian if your application is already built for Linux and you want apt and a normal package workflow. Take Windows if you depend on a vendor
SDK that only ships as a .dll, or if your IT team has to manage these with existing Windows tooling.
16. Can I run this as a vehicle-mounted terminal?
A. Yes — there's a vehicle dock, a vehicle charger and a 12-pin POGO for a cradle connection. At 894g and 24.5mm it's a mounted device, not a pocket device; plan the mount first and the tablet second.
