Frequently Asked Questions About Rugged Tablets
1. What is a rugged tablet?
A rugged tablet is an industrial mobile computer designed for demanding working environments. Compared with a consumer tablet, it features a reinforced enclosure, sealed water and dust resistance (IP65–IP68), a wider operating temperature range -20°C to 60°C, drop protection tested to MIL-STD-810H 1.22m, and optional industrial interfaces such as RS232, RJ45 and data-capture modules.
2. What is the difference between an industrial rugged tablet and a consumer tablet?
Three structural differences:
1. Durability — consumer tablets are designed for indoor personal use; industrial rugged tablets are sealed (IP65+), drop-resistant and rated for wide temperatures.
2. Interfaces and data capture — rugged tablets add barcode scanners, NFC/RFID, serial ports and Ethernet that consumer tablets lack.
3. Lifecycle and support — industrial models keep stable supply and OS images for 5 years, which matters for fleet deployment and long-term projects.
3. Should I choose a Windows or Android rugged tablet?
A Windows rugged tablet is generally suitable for companies that need desktop software, Windows-based ERP systems, industrial control applications or compatibility with existing PC programs. An Android rugged tablet is often preferred for mobile data collection, warehouse applications, delivery operations and customized Android applications.
4. What IP ratings are available for CENAVA rugged tablets?
CENAVA rugged tablets are available in three protection levels:
IP65 handles dust and water jets; IP67/68 add immersion protection for rain, washdown and outdoor use.
5. Can rugged tablets be used outdoors and in direct sunlight?
Yes. For outdoor fieldwork, construction and transportation, choose models with high-brightness panels — for example, the W10NX offers a 700-nit sunlight-readable display, and models such as A10ST-5G support glove and wet-hand touch. Tell us your usage scenario and we will point you to the right screen option.
6. Do CENAVA rugged tablets support barcode scanning, NFC and RFID?
Selected models can be configured with 1D or 2D barcode scanners, NFC, HF RFID, UHF RFID, fingerprint recognition or ID-card reading modules. Module availability, reading distance and supported standards depend on the selected tablet and project requirements.
7. Are 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS available?
CENAVA offers rugged tablet configurations with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and optional cellular connectivity. Selected models support 4G LTE or 5G networks.
8. Can CENAVA customize rugged tablets for OEM or ODM projects?
Yes. Depending on the model and order quantity, we customize branding, housing, OS image, memory/storage, wireless modules, data-capture modules and mounting accessories — see *OEM/ODM, From Sample to Mass Production* above for the process, lead time and MOQ.
9. What information should I provide when requesting a quotation?
For a fast, accurate quotation, three things are essential: quantity, operating system (Windows or Android), and your application scenario. Helpful extras include screen size, target country (for certifications), required interfaces or modules, and expected delivery schedule.
